Philip John – All Breeds Judge – KCI / FCI / AKC
I am approved to judge All Breeds, Groups, and BIS at any show affiliated with the Kennel Club of India, Fédération Cynologique Internationale, and the American Kennel Club (AKC Judge #99891).
I started judging internationally in 1982. I have awarded CC & CACIB to about 200 breeds and judged groups, and BIS at the highest international level.
Was on the panel of the World Dog Show 2010 in Denmark (Miniature Poodle, English Cocker Spaniel, and West Highland White Terrier) and World Dog Show 2014 in Helsinki (SS Dachshund, Saluki, and Pekinese).
I judged Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Japanese Akita at Leipzig’s World Dog Show 2017. I also judged BIS at the VDH Europa-Seiger Show in Dortmund, Germany in 2018.
I have judged in Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. I have also judged in Estonia, Latvia, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, the USA, and the UK.
Have officiated as a specialist judge at Sight Hound, Dachshund, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Weimaraner, Doberman, Boxer, Rottweiler, Great Dane, Dalmatian, Basenji, Japanese Akita, Afghan Hound, Saluki, Pug, Samoyed, Old English Sheepdog, Spaniel, and Tibetan breeds shows.
In 2024, I judged Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Schnauzers, Greyhounds, and Polish Lowland Sheepdogs at the Southern Counties Association Dog Show in the UK in May, Cluster shows in Seattle, Washington State, in July, and Cluster shows in Reno, Nevada, in August.
In 2025, I judged five groups at the Yosemite KC and was invited to judge a Japanese Akita Specialty in Novo Zivhost, Czech Republic.
I am on the panel for the World Dog Show 2025, doing Great Dane (Black & Harlequin), Chihuahua, Korean Jindo Dog, Bali Dog, and English Cocker Spaniel.
I will also judge the Papillon and Phalene Specialty for the Finnish Toy Dog Club.
I am currently the President of the Dachshund Club of India. The German Teckel Club invited me to judge their National Show in September 2025, a privilege usually reserved for their national experts.
I am honored to judge breeds and BIS at the Malaysian KC’s Centenary Show later in 2025.
I was the first elected Chairman of the Judges Commission for the FCI Asia Pacific and Africa Section (A2O) and also headed the Judges’ training scheme in India for two decades.
I am qualified to judge all American breeds, including Coonhounds, Rat Terriers, and others recognised by the AKC.
I began my life with pedigreed dogs in 1973, breeding and showing Dobermans, followed by Dachshunds, Beagles, Lhasa Apsos, and German Shepherd Dogs. I have also owned or kept the Greyhound, Whippet, Saluki, and Afghan Hound.
I am a member of the Royal Kennel Club in London and the Morris & Essex Club in the US.
I divide my time between Santa Clara, California, USA, and Kochi, Kerala, India.
